Notes on Seventh Heaven

The bar closes at midnight on week nights. By quarter to, she wishes her stragglers would leave. She'll rise at five thirty, put some coffee on, get breakfast ready for the kids. At six, she'll drag Denzel and Marlene out of bed. At seven thirty, she drives them to school.

By nine, she'll be wide awake again, accomplishing as much as possible for Seventh Heaven--mostly just making finger-food for the bar so she can reheat it on shift--before she crashes into bed at noon. And then at two thirty it starts all over again, driving through Edge traffic to pick up Denzel and Marlene from school, two hours of homework and dinner and then the final preparations for the bar. Bar opens at five, runs until midnight. Seven straight hours of mixing drinks and microwaving food.

On Fridays, the bar opens at five PM and closes at two AM. From eight to eleven (nine to midnight in summer), Seventh Heaven hosts a live local band. She wears discreet earplugs.

Saturdays, the bar opens at four PM and closes at three AM. More live music. There's usually at least a little dancing, though she doesn't entirely encourage it. Saturdays are the days she usually ends up breaking up fights (usually around one, when everybody's drunk and physically tired and not looking forward to paying their night tab and going home).

Closed Sundays because she has to sleep and do laundry sometime. Why not Sunday?

There's a difference between rescuing and letting someone lean on you, though. Offering emotional support isn't the same as saving someone.

But yeah, Tifa could definitely use more support than she gets.

I don't really see leaning and rescuing as that different sometimes, but I can certainly see your point. I have been "rescued" by friends and my partner and I've been the "rescuer" as well. It didn't change our dynamics. It's like saying "you're a lifesaver" or "you saved my ass" No, there was no literal ass saving, but the wording's the same?

Again, sorry to cause a debate. It wasn't my intent.

Yeah, clearly we don't agree on what these terms mean. If you feel 'leaning on' carries the same weight in a sentence that 'being rescued' does then that's that.

Meh, this isn't a debate, it's a minor disagreement. ^_^
