Notes on Seventh Heaven
The bar closes at midnight on week nights. By quarter to, she wishes her stragglers would leave. She'll rise at five thirty, put some coffee on, get breakfast ready for the kids. At six, she'll drag Denzel and Marlene out of bed. At seven thirty, she drives them to school.
By nine, she'll be wide awake again, accomplishing as much as possible for Seventh Heaven--mostly just making finger-food for the bar so she can reheat it on shift--before she crashes into bed at noon. And then at two thirty it starts all over again, driving through Edge traffic to pick up Denzel and Marlene from school, two hours of homework and dinner and then the final preparations for the bar. Bar opens at five, runs until midnight. Seven straight hours of mixing drinks and microwaving food.
On Fridays, the bar opens at five PM and closes at two AM. From eight to eleven (nine to midnight in summer), Seventh Heaven hosts a live local band. She wears discreet earplugs.
Saturdays, the bar opens at four PM and closes at three AM. More live music. There's usually at least a little dancing, though she doesn't entirely encourage it. Saturdays are the days she usually ends up breaking up fights (usually around one, when everybody's drunk and physically tired and not looking forward to paying their night tab and going home).
Closed Sundays because she has to sleep and do laundry sometime. Why not Sunday?

Of course the 13 year old squeely fanbrat in me shouts RUDExTIFA OTP at the top of her lungs ;)
What I was trying to get out is that there's always this melancholy sadness about Tifa. It's fitting, and I can't view her another way, however she's so alone in canon.
Like she's still waiting for that knight to sweep her off her feet, only he or she will never show up.

No. Great big resounding no. As a child, Tifa expressed the desire for a hero, then became a hero (or an attempted hero; I'm talking about her involvement with the pre-Cloud AVALANCHE) herself, then used that hero promise to keep Cloud around where she could watch him.
Much of her story in the game, her entire character arc (at least to me) was her getting over this idea that she was the one needing rescue. In the game, she's the one who rescues Cloud. In AC, she's the one who tells Cloud that he needs to get the hell over his shit because there are people who care about him, and she stands at his side as an equal (or, in combat, near equal).

I don't subscribe to the idea that the knight and whoever he or she rescues aren't equals. I never have.

If you need to be rescued? Generally speaking, you aren't equal in power to your rescuer. There's implicated dependence on a rescuer; you need that person to save you.
It is in no way an apt description of a relationship of equals.

The scene where she finally (finally) told Cloud to get his shit together was a favorite of mine because I was worried she'd never have the emotional pull to do it.
I ah... really didn't MEAN to cause a huge debate on it, so I apologize. I was only saying that everyone needs help sometimes and Tifa never seems to GET it, really. It makes me sad for the character.

But yeah, Tifa could definitely use more support than she gets.

Again, sorry to cause a debate. It wasn't my intent.

Meh, this isn't a debate, it's a minor disagreement. ^_^
