How can I pass up a filename like "hyooman ladieeeeeez"?

There's really no good break for this, so:

Kerre T'Valar remembers when humans burst onto the galactic scene. She'd just finished throttling some turian yahoo — thought he could muscle in on Eclipse's interests? On Ilium? Please — and was taking a motorized carving knife to his shoulder plates. She hit a hard bone, her arm jerked, the corpse twitched, and the news came on.

The first thing she thought was: Goddess, they look like us.

The second thing she thought was: That can't be genetically healthy.

The third thing she thought was: Wait, they out-stubborned the turians?

Let's go with Flesh and Not Stone.

Rose shifts, and the ship rocks, and Meru can't help but notice the ink slide of Rose's hair past the wicked-looking pins. It's pretty, it's eye-catching, but more than that, it echoes the magic that slides around Rose almost constantly. The magic is slick, and dark, and cool against her cheek but it smells like wood smoke and she always tastes a little cinnamon when Rose casts Astral Drain, and a copper tang after.
