Looking back, did you write more fics than you thought you would this year, less than you thought, or about what you predicted?

Not as many as I thought I would, and certainly not as many as I'd hoped. Looks like 2012 need to kick into high gear!

Where did you publish/archive your stories?

I have three archives: FFN, my dreamwidth archive, and the AO3.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2011?

Mass Effect.

What’s your favorite story this year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you the happiest.

The single fic I'm the happiest with is probably "all just bones and long way away from home." Sandman was made for crossovers, and I really do think I did Sandman's mix of creepy, haunting, and uplifting justice.

Okay, NOW your most popular story.

"Keep." Can't say I blame the readers, Shep/Garrus is pretty popular, and it's a solid story. I think the premise is a little trite, but it was at someone else's request.

Story most underappreciated by the universe?

"Catch Me." Without a doubt, "Catch Me." It hasn't gotten a single review -- and I'm halfway through 2012 now.

Story that could have been better?

"Junctioning Is Complicated". One particular reader had a hate-on for "A Sweeter Song Tomorrow," but "Junctioning Is Complicated" takes this year's mediocre award. It's solid, it's interesting, it's got great character moments, but I lopped things off it that I really wish I hadn't, and now I can't put them back.

Sexiest story?

"Gift Of Wings." Turian Nightwing and Space Jesus Batman turn a territory-independence thing into a dominance thing.

Most fun story?

"Checking In." I love epistolary format, and I absolutely love writing in Kolyat's voice. Shep's a bit harder, but even so, Kolyat and Thane more than make up for it.

Story with single sweetest moment?

"In The Arms Of The Enemy." A couple of ambiguously bi muslimat get together to read a romance novel.

The story that made you cry?

"These Cuts." Writing it is so hard, because it's looking at Misao's fairly private ordeal through Aoshi's eyes, and sometimes I get transported back to being thirteen again. There's so much I wish had been done and said, so much I wish I'd told, so much I wish I'd been told, and "These Cuts" is really driving that home.

Hardest story to write?

In terms of emotional anguish, "These Cuts," but the story that has spent the most hours with me staring at the page and unable to put words on is, hands down, "Gifts and Treasures." I've been wanting to finish the fucking thing since '08.

Easiest story to write?

"Keep." It was almost entirely painless.

Most overdue story?

Gifts & Treasures.

Most unintentionally telling story?

I can't say that "These Cuts" is unintentionally telling, because I knew going into "Hard Times" that my own issues were going to show somehow.

So probably "Keep." The request was for overprotective angry Garrus, and on the kinkmeme. You'd expect possessiveness, overprotectiveness, and rough sex -- but I completely BYPASSED any sex at all and focused entirely on the violence. Several chapters are basically a paean to carnage. There's an Eye Scream described in loving detail.

It's a half-trite, half-disturbing, all-brutal blend of romcom and war movie. And I think that says something about me.

Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?

I made the risk of jumping into a new fandom! I don't think I learned anything.

Do you have any fanfic goals for the next year?

Fucking Gifts&Treasures. FUCKING GIFTS&TREASURES. And maybe Bereskarn Skein and Dreamfall, but mostly motherfucking Gifts&Treasures.
